Worked on a Department of Energy funded project to build wireless sensors and smart control algorithms that enabled commercial HVAC units to be used as energy capacitors to help balance electricity grids.

Designed and implemented a tool wear based cutting speed controller for gear broaching machines.Vibration data for various conditions of the tool was recorded. This was then used to devise an optimization algorithm that could control cutting speed based on tool wear. The vibration signature produced by the cutting tool was monitored in real-time and the cutting speed was varied continuously to optimize tool life.
