The project, known as A Multimodal Approach to Teacher Professional Development in Low Resource Settings (MATPD), is a collaborative endeavour encompassing a South-South collaboration between higher education institutions and a global non-profit entity. The consortium aims to address the substandard quality of teacher professional development for distance teaching and learning through the implementation of this project. Leading the consortium is Villa College, Maldives, with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) India serving as the co-lead and knowledge partner for the proposed innovation. Additionally, the Swedish Committee of Afghanistan assumes the role of the third partner, responsible for executing the project in Afghanistan. (Source: http://idrc.villacollege.edu.mv/)In my capacity as part of my field Attachment course, I have chosen to contribute to this project in order to gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies of teacher professional development in low-resource settings. My role involves assisting the Core Team in their research endeavours and acquiring knowledge on the functioning of grant-based research projects.
