The websitecommittee of S.V. Arago is responsible for the maintainance and development of the associations website. The website can be found at http://www.arago.utwente.nl. With about 5 members we constantly update the contents and develop new features.Besides the website itself we also design and implement websites for other committees. I have been chairman of the Websitecommittee from March 2011 till March 2014.

S.V. Arago has a small network of computers to facilitate the work done by the board of S.V. Arago and committee members. The system administration committee is responsible for the maintenance and timely replacement of hardware and software on these computers, including three servers for data storage, mailboxes and the website. I have been chairman of the committee from March 2011 till March 2014.

As editor of the Focus - the magazine of S.V. Arago - I write articles for both the paper edition and the online publications, the FocusOnline. This includes scientific and historical articles and columns.

This function is part of the board of S.V. Arago. Besides the common tasks of the board - including keeping an eye on the 'living room', selling educational books and incidental tasks - the secretary of the board is responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail, creating the minutes of all board meetings and keeping the member administration up-to-date.

With a committee of six persons from both S.V. Arago (study association for Applied Physics) and S.V.A.T. Astatine (study association for Advanced Technology) we organised this one day symposium about acoustics. As commissioner external affairs I was responsible for finding sponsorships to finance the symposium. About 90 people attended the symposium that consisted of six lectures given by guest speakers. With a committee of 5 students we organize the yearly one-day autumn-symposium of Arago. This year the title is "At the right place, at the right time". The SensUs project (www.sensus.org) is a yearly student team competition organized by the University of Eindhoven in which each team is tasked with the development of a sensor capable of detecting a specified biomolecule. This year, the challenge is to determine the presence of hemagglutinin (involved in an Influenza A infection) in saliva. PhD research project in the Optical Sciences group at the University of Twente. The project is part of the RENOS (Rare-Earth doped Novel On-chip Sources) research (ERC). The research focused on the development of high refractive index contrast optical waveguides with relatively low loss in crystalline KY(WO4)2, using swift carbon ion irradiation. These structures can be used as small-footprint on-chip amplifiers and lasers. Project leader is Sonia Garcia-Blanco.

Science on Tour is a team of beta-students who try to promote science and technology throughout the country by building and demonstrating scientific experiments. As coordinator I am responsible for the organization of activities that we attend. I conduct the communication with the people at the location we visit and I am responsible for finding the students and transportation to the location. I also organize days on which we fix and improve our experiments.

Since September 2009 i'm member of the participation council of the Faculty of Science and Technology. This council participates in the decisions of the managementteam of the faculty.I took over the job as secretary of the council in January 2010, till September 2013.

This committee is responsible for the evaluation of the education given to the students of the major Applied Physics at the University of Twente. As a student member of the committee my responsibility was to conduct meetings with students to evaluate the curriculum and ask the opinion of the teachers.
