My role here consisted primarily of just allround systems administration. Together with one other sys-admin we supported the ~100 users at the studio in Amsterdam, as well as provide support on shared systems with our sister studio in Rotterdam. The work involved everything from direct user support to server, network, and storage setup and maintenance. Selecting and purchasing hardware setups specific to people’s needs in their different roles of game development. Setting up and providing VR hardware, predominantly from Meta’s Rift and Quest series, but also some setups with PSVR2 and AR equipment such as the Magic leap.Setting up and providing all required software, including license management and purchasing, for software solutions from Adobe, Autodesk, Perforce, Unreal, Visual studio and more.Increasing and keeping up to date with best practices in security, utilizing tools such as ESET endpoint security, AD policies and Bitlocker to secure endpoints and servers, and managing network traffic through Fortigate firewalls and EMS.Doing regular security tests, primarily using Nessus to do scans and to find potential vulnerabilities.Managing and maintaining supporting systems such as Jira and Confluence. Both selfhosted and cloud versionsMaintain weekly reports to management on the progress of work and keeping track of work and priorities for myself and my colleague. Notable projects include:- Implementing a windows deployment server, for the purpose of automating workstation installations- Setting up approximately 70 workspaces in a month’s time to prepare for a return to office post-covid- Moving from a non-clustered HYPER-V server environment to a clustered one.- Migrating Jira and Confluence from Server to Cloud versions- Migrating all users and content from the Amsterdam studio Slack to a combined Slack workspace

Mhasmo is a cloud service provider with it’s own hardware and network infrastructure. My job here mostly entails configuring and maintaining the windows server and network environment, setting up new servers, etc. The type of environments are as widely varied as our customers. Webshops and websites with heavy traffic, RDS farms, Application servers. Everything hosted on our VMware environment.I'm also one of the network engineers, mostly responsible for the firewall and routing. Setting up access for new customers and setting up VPN tunnels and such. If all that's not enough I'm also Security officer and as such responsible for the security policies and their implementation in the company.Some notable projects I did include:Installing a complete windows server environment with domain controllers, application servers and workstation imaging for a school that caught fire.Migration of roughly 50 servers from windows server 2008 to server 2016/2019Implementing Connectwise Automate for automation of windows updatesSeveral firewall migrations, moving to Sonicwall, and later to Fortigate

While my job title was officially Desktop Support technician I also held a role as an Avaya engineer for the most part. In my role as Avaya engineer I worked 2nd line. The work entailed user management, maintaining the numberplan, maintaining and creating new callflows for the many internal callcenters and callgroups using Avaya Site Administration. Maintaining and creating call-reports using Avaya CMS supervisor. And serving as the bridge between the Business and 3rd line support in Sweden.For the Desktop Support side this entailed supporting and maintaining roughly 1200-1300 employees worth of workspaces. Emphasis was on supporting as far as we can take it, so it involved troubleshooting on every level of the desktop environment and not just being a hardware handout desk. The work included, but was not limited to. Second line end user support Using SCCM to roll out windows updates monthly Migrating from windows XP to windows 7 Making and maintaining powershell scripts to well just make life a bit easier on everyone with repeated tasks Supporting and maintaining sharepoint 2007 sites.

I worked together with one other systems administrator, having full control and responsibility for the network. Roughly 300 employees using a bit over 50 workstations in various contexts (office, reception desk, cashiering system, light control, etc.) due to a large variety in the software packages we use we have several service contracts with our suppliers. Aside from all this I’ve done a pen-test to look for and expose the security weaknesses in the network.

I’ve worked in several different environments at WenS. I’ve been hired out to several companies in the educational and financial sectors. Aside from these most of my work comprised of coordinating the work at ROC-ASA, a MBO school group in Amsterdam. Where in the end I was responsible for the IT of 4 schools with networks ranging from 50-250 workstations each. These were based on Novel netware 5. I had a team of 4 interns at my disposal to handle this. It was my job to both make sure everything is up and running and in giving my team a good working experience.
