GoalsAs an aspiring electrical engineer my hope is to have the opportunity to continue to work in the forensic industry as I enjoy learning how systems work and how to improve them. I am especially interested in why electrical processes fail and the resulting impacts.I have become fascinated with the forensic industry due to the unique nature of work. I enjoy learning what went wrong, why, and how to prevent failures in the future – lucky for me this industry does exactly that. Forensics provides a challenge, as well as a hands-on aspect that I am looking for. In the future, I hope to further develop my knowledge in fire science and fire investigation/inspection procedures. I am currently working towards achieving the CFI certification.ExperienceOver my 16-month co-op at Origin and Cause, I had the opportunity to work with many experts within the forensic field. I was able to assist with fire investigations, electrical inspections, and laboratory examinations. During examinations, I used x-ray imaging and optical microscopy to identify points of failure in products. Overall, I learned valuable knowledge about how devices work, the basics of fire science, and most importantly, that there is always more to learn. During my co-op at Stantec I assisted with a variety of projects. I used a wide range of software to perform tasks such as lighting design, drafting, and preparing award and quotation letters. The main duty of this position was choosing luminaires and creating a lighting design that met the criteria provided while considering social implications. In addition, I attended weekly meetings to discuss topics such as time allocation and deliverables.As a lifeguard and swim instructor, I learned skills such as safety, communication, and teamwork. In this role I gave feedback and answered questions or concerns, and as a result I was able to improve my communication and presentation skills while maintaining a safe environment. As a lifeguard teamwork was crucial in unexpected situations.HobbiesOutside of work, I enjoy a variety of different activities including camping, swimming, boxing, and softball. Each summer my family goes camping where we enjoy the sun and each others company. In the winter, I enjoy snowboarding and have been to Blue Mountain and Mont Tremblant, an am excited to try new places. I also love to bake, anything from oatmeal chocolate chip cookies to raspberry lemon cookies; and spending time with my dog, an Aussiedoodle named Izzy.
