THAW is stabilizing and empowering Michigan families, keeping them healthy, safe and warm.Essential Functions• Support the execution of PR plans designed to drive the needle upwards in the way of awareness, engagement, and revenue• Develop media strategies and quarterly PR plans• Manage activities of the PR firm• Identify opportunities and stories for regional and local media• Manage THAW’s social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn• Manage, the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, and annual report.• Manage communication between THAW and the organization’s web design company• Work with Development Director and Leadership Team to create and execute an annual marketing & communications calendar.• Seek, research, develop and pitch proactive news stories to enhance public awareness of THAW throughout the state of Michigan through a variety of print and electronic media outlets• Draft speeches for CEO and Leadership Team as necessary and arrange interviews and other forms of contact• In partnership with the Development Director, serve in the lead support role related to the planning and execution of special events.

IMPACT • Contributed to marketing and communications strategies for programs. • Helped to expand brand identity and mission of Museum.• Increased attendance and visibility of Museum. • Increased ability to receive grant dollars and sponsorships for staple programs. • Creative directed visual content for promotion and to secure grant funding. • Led initiatives with community advocacy and inclusion in mind. • Strengthened relationships with schools, community, and cultural institutions. • Strengthened relationships with Detroit artists. • Supported with management of donor and alumni relationships. • Identified marketing messages and promotional opportunities for programs. • Supported development of program-specific Museum merchandise. • Assisted Chairwoman and CEO with the Museum expansion including developing content for design and fundraising efforts. • Organized design charrettes and gathered critical information for the exhibit design and storytelling.• Worked with Owner’s Representatives on project management and responded to conceptual designs.RESPONSIBILITIES • Edit/draft press releases, media talking points, and letters for leadership. • Write content that engages diverse audiences. • Serve as media lead for Museum programs. • Maintain contact with traditional and non-traditional media channels.• Identify media relationships to promote programs. • Conduct community interviews and capture Motown Alumni oral histories.• Supervise and direct contentdevelopment for programs including flyers, commercials, reels, and still photography. • Serve as liaison between community organizations/members and the Museum. • Develop community partnership opportunities.• Create, organize, and execute creative, educational and community programs.• Provide data driven recommendations for process and program improvements. • Curate opportunities for artists including personal and professional development. • Negotiate contract deliverables and terms.

My responsibilities included managing the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages as well as email database. I also produced articles and other written pieces for circulation.

Researched, interviewed, wrote and submitted general assignment and culture/arts articles for this community-based publication.

Assisted in character generation, audio production and filming of city council meetings and Channel 22 programming.
