My favorite roles in life have been caring for those who can't care for themselves. I chose a career in nursing later in life and became a registered nurse in 2018 while my husband was serving in the US Navy. In 2020, during the peak of the Covid pandemic, I obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Anderson University while working full-time in the emergency department at Baptist Easley Hospital. As with many nurses, the hardships endured through the pandemic took its toll and I made the move to school nursing at Legacy Early College, a Title I charter school in Greenville, SC. Here I discovered a love of community and public health, and of making connections to help my students and their families access the care they need. School nursing also gives me the opportunity to spend my summers pursuing other interests and passions, which led me to the position of camp nurse at Camp Spearhead, a camp for people with special needs. Maintaining a good work-life balance is very important to me. I spend my time off working on my small hobby farm on a 13 acre property that my husband and I purchased in 2019. We have large vegetable gardens, many chickens, and a yellow lab named Mayella. Our goal is to become as self-sufficient as possible by growing edible, self-sustaining plants and utilizing our local natural resources.
