I do a lot of work with recommender systems: the algorithms that control the information we consume, and therefore have a huge influence on our social, political, professional, and emotional lives.Current projects include an academic/industry collaboration investigating ways to modify a popular content recommender to improve users' wellbeing in a measurable way; and research on automated tools that distinguish productive conflict from divisive conflict online, and whether it is linked to dehumanization and partisan violence. -
