At Sun Microsystems, I worked in several roles in presales as a Senior Systems Engineer, Account Consultant and Account Architect to analyse customers requirements and convert them to technical concepts & solutions. Force was an engineering company and a manufacturer of embedded computer systems. Force GmbH was a subsidiary of Force Computers Inc in San Jose / CA. Force was bought by Solectron in 1998 and sold to Motorola in 2004.As the head of internal IT (4 direct reports, budget responsibility), I was responsible for the local IT group and the coordination of all activities with Force Inc. and the SAP Team. During my time at Force, I was also responsible for the planning and the implementation of a new switched network infrastructure when the company moved to a new premises.

Hexal AG is now a part of Novartis, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies worldwide.At my time at Hexal, the company was privately owned and rapidly expanding. In my position I was responsible for coordinating all internal and external IT activities and developing an IT strategy to support further growth and expansion. As the Head of IT (7 direct reports, budget responsibility), I established an internal IT department to effectively support people on-site. We replaced legacy IT islands and implemented an Oracle-based solution for information management. We extended the corporate network to partners and customers for a modern B2B (EDIFACT based) messaging system to automate order management and logistics. Together with a partner we implementd the first Oracle Database Standby Solution to gain high availability and to prevent logical data corruption errors (Libelle DB Shadow).

Cyanamid GmbH was the German subsidiary of American Cyanamid, a leading agro-chemical and pharmaceutical (Lederle) manufacturer at that time. The company merged with American Home Products in 1994. My role in the newly founded technical IT department was to be responsible for the software development for a laboratory information management system (LIMS) and automated production systems using a 4. GL environment (DataFlex).
