Traditional Corps Member

My service was mostly completed in the North Central Region, which encompasses much of the upper middle-to-eastern portion of the United States. My service was completed in Boone, IA with a nature camp called Camp Hantesa where we removed invasive plants, practiced forest management, built and improved one of their nature trails, and assisted with the preparation of one of their major volunteer events; San Diego, CA where I helped assemble and disassemble a summer sports clinic put together by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disabled military veterans; Grand Rapids, MI where I worked on construction sites and the office of the Kent County Habitat for Humanity; and Omaha, NE where I worked as an IRS-certified tax preparer and financial consultant for a non-profit called the Omaha Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, supervised by Family Housing Advisory Services Inc. Team positions were also assigned throughout service and I was a Project Outreach Liaison for my entire service term, which meant that I would reach out to organizations in the communities we work worked in for potential sponsorship for future AmeriCorps teams or volunteer projects, while also completing research projects for AmeriCorps staff to provide their own outreach, and also setting up volunteer service days for community involvement.
