My current project involve characterization of taste and flavours in fermented foods (Dairy and meat). We are using human receptor expression system for different taste qualities (Sweet, bitter, umami and kokumi) in Fluorescent imaging plate reader assay (FLIPR).

• I worked on several projects related to characterization of physiological functions of orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR50. In the absence of any known ligand of GPR50, I explored its ligand independent functions.
• Demonstrated ability to generate stable cell lines or handling mammalian cell lines/primary cell lines for transient transfection, siRNA knockdown experiments.
• Extensive use and optimization of protein chemistry expertise (antibody based techniques) in in-vitro and in-vivo settings.
• Established nuclear localization membrane receptor by using subcellular fractionation & microscopy. Standardized and optimized nuclear extraction protocol in cells and tissues.
• Established protein solubilisation, extraction, co-Immunoprecipitation protocols for membrane receptors (GPCRs) in cells/tissues.
• Optimization and validation of intracellular signaling pathways in primary cells and tissues.

• I worked independently on project related to Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I worked to characterize the cooperation between MHC class II and Toll like receptors (TLRs) in MAM binding and presentation, and delineate the.
• Worked with human cell lines like T cells, B cells, monocytes to perform immunoprecipitation and FACS analysis
• Standardization of lipid raft isolation in human T/B cell lines
• Training and supervising new graduate/postgraduate students for the completion of their dissertation work

Worked briefly on photoperiodic regulation of nuclear melatonin receptor RORα in lymphoid organs of a tropical rodent to explore its role in seasonal oxidative stress.

India

• I did my PhD on melatonin receptors and their role in regulating the seasonal adjustment of immune function in a tropical rodent analyzing in detail the photoperiodic control of immune function, and revealing a novel.
• Worked on the localization, expression and regulation of melatonin receptors in animal tissues and primary cells like splenocytes and thymocytes.
• Lead the optimization and standardization of immunohistochemistry, western blot and RT-PCR in primary cells as well as in lymphoid tissues. Further successfully introduced new immunological techniques in the laboratory.
