I've had several different roles during my time at EA - Social - Led engineering efforts for social gaming initiatives including support for in-game chat, push notifications, friend recommendations, teams and groups.EA Mobile - As part of EA's digital platform group I transitioned the team from mainly outsourced contractors to FTEs. Moved shared services supporting 500m+ annual mobile revenue from fixed capacity data centers to auto scaling services in AWS reducing cost, operational complexity and improving overall reliability while incurring zero downtime. Mobile Tools & Technology - developed core mobile gaming technology to support the EA Mobile business including push notifications, device telemetry, etc. Represented EA's mobile needs to other groups; represented EA to Google as part of the cloud advisory board.Pogo.com - Engineering leader for Pogo, a large casual on-line gaming business supporting hundreds of thousands of concurrent users. Oversaw 100+ staff in both QA & development, both local and overseas. Created Pogo's 3rd party SDK to support external game development based on Google App Engine. Staffed server team and launched the World Series of Poker game deployed entirely on AWS built using Erlang and DynamoDB.

Great experience helping to build a company from the bottom up. Grew from zero to 20 FTE across engineering and QA. Led all recruiting and hiring for engineering. Launched 3 mobile game titles across major US carriers (Sprint, Cingular/AT&T, Verizon) & Flash-based equivalents for the web. As a member of the executive team helped chart annual company roadmap. Balanced business goals & budget. Coded server logic for real-time mobile football & basketball games. And as with all early startups, spoke with VCs and helped to raise funding.

I spent many enjoyable years at Netscape and later AOL. I spent several years working on shopping related services such as electronic wallets. I led a joint project to integrate AOL's subscriber base with Citibank's payments systems to facilitate online payments. I then switched from shopping to streaming music and helped launch MusicNet - an early subscription based music streaming platform.

Led effort responsible for adding distributed object support into the KIVA application server. (Java, C++). Kiva was fast moving & rapidly growing startup acquired by Netscape.

Primary responsibilities included redesigning the existing object runtime to support preemptive thread safety and language mapping independence. Responsible for a real-time file system for streaming video. Performed overhaul of internal synchronization & locking mechanisms to improve concurrency and reliability.
