About Rae Smith

As a recent Optical Sciences MS graduate from the University of Arizona, I am excited to pursue my passion for optics. My previous work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Arizona included research and design culminating in a thesis on a waveguide-based HMD AR device customized for medical applications, and development of a novel optical procedure to utilize corneal topography and wavefront sensing to create custom models of the human eye.I received my B.S. in Physics (concentration in Optics) from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). I also have a minor in Mathematics and received multiple academic awards from the College of Science and the Honors College at UAH. I have research experience in laser optics and fiber optics, as well as industry experience as a Radar System Engineer at KBRwyle (a subcontractor for Raytheon for Patriot and IAMD efforts). There, I specialized in tracking algorithms, Kalman Filtering, and Neural Networks, and contributed to several projects involving radar data analysis and simulation. I am eager to learn more and apply my skills to solve real-world problems.
