As an environmental engineer, I find water and wastewater systems fascinating, as these infrastructures make life as we know it today possible. It is my goal to improve these infrastructures in the face of challenges such as climate change effects and increasing urban sealing. I focus on developing strategies and opportunities to optimise complex urban wastewater systems, for example by embracing the potential and opportunities that digitalization has to offer water and wastewater infrastructures - especially in the areas of improving flexibility, adaptability and operational security. I also enjoy working on strategical and organisational optimisation of water and wastewater utiliities, thus enabling them to perform their complex tasks in an even better and more efficient way. When I’m not on the job I enjoy practicing martial arts and yoga and love travelling around the world (and finding out how wastewater systems work in other places).Areas of focus:• Managing different wastewater related projects• Reducing operational problems in wastewater systems• Expert on wet wipe related problems in national working groups to develop guidelines and standards (DWA, DIN)• Collaboration with utilities to develop joint research projects• Development and organisation of the new research field “Digitalization of Wastewater Systems” at the Chair of Fluid System Dynamics• Designing a use case for the trial of an innovative intelligent solution to reduce H2S with a German utilityCompetencies: Project management, designing field measurement campaigns, data evaluation and interpretation, communication of complex contents to diverse audiences, analytical problem solving, MS Office/ MS Project/ Visio/ LATEX/ R
