I am part of a team that is responsible for developing a new case management system, MyStory, for agencies to serve the requirements of children and young people moving through the range of out of home care and provide other support services for them and also for individual adults and family groups.MyStory is a multi-tenancy web application that is developed in ASP .NET MVC platform and made available to the agencies as software-as-a-service (SAAS) through the Windows Azure cloud platform. It integrates and replaces most of the requirements from the existing three standalone case management systems, which have been in use in Australia for over twelve years.The project is guided by the Scrum methodology and test driven development (TDD) process with code review before pushing the change-sets to Mercurial source control system. Our build and deployment strategy is fully automated with TeamCity. We try to adhere to C# coding conventions and standards and prefer Razor view engine over the ASPX. MyStory uses different data storage models such as SQL, Azure blob storage and graph database (neo4j). The goal project was to develop a multi-tenant customer feedback overview system in Silverlight that displays a group of feedback items, for the logged in client, on big screens. The feedback data can be retrieved from different sources such as tweets, RSS feeds, Facebook comments, results from the internal survey system and Drupal website comments.The goal of the application is to provide a user interface and a storage model that is highly flexible and customizable, in such way that configuring existing cards, introducing new data sources and clients should not require any redeployment of the existing application. This application is currently used by Qantas in 11 countries, to display their employees the real-time customer feedback regarding in flight, lounge and check-in services. The implementation involved dynamically injecting feedback fields, which are specified in the database, into a property of a run-time generated object as well as loading XAML file externally via a RIA service. These two solutions along with the flexible architecture of the storage model ensure the earlier mentioned application goals. In addition to this I helped the development team with building a couple of custom Drupal modules for their community websites.

My job at Exalt involves two tasks: designing extensible software architectures to accommodate the rapid growth of Exalt and its diverse customer base, and developing desktop as well as web applications to support the business processes using .NET framework and C#.I utilize a combination of the following libraries from the .NET framework stack: ASP.NET, WCF, WPF (MVVM), LINQ, ADO.NET Entity Framework. In addition to these, some of the applications i develop take advantage of the following frameworks: WPF Application Framework (WAF) and Managed Extensibility Framework (MEF).The following technologies / tools are widely used in developing applications at Exalt: MSSQL, LLBLGen, Devexpress Controls, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and SVN.At Exalt, development of software goes hand in hand with the management and maintenance of it. This keeps me busy with the management of IIS 7.5 web server, with regard to deployment of WCF, ASP.NET and OData services, and MSSQL and Postgresql database servers.

Created a multi-domain website using the Drupal CMS/Framework for the City of Almelo. IsOnzeWijk project provides each suburb of the city Almelo with its own community website.Also kicked started the development of the corporate website of Wirelab Creative and set up an environment to develop Drupal websites. For project management, this Drupal environment uses the Scrum methodology and Redmine ticketing system. Besides this, i am developing a base theme on which new Drupal websites can be built upon. This base theme aims to provide reduced page load time, less server load as well as making it easy to for a themer to develop new Drupal websites without having to code anything.

Initially, I worked on the transactional system developed for Nationale Postcode Lotterij (Netherlands) and People's Postcode Lottery (United Kingdom). Later, I was involved with developing data-driven admin interface for the transactional system. Due to limited resources the admin interface project was stalled.

During this three months period, I implemented additional features to the freight management software that I developed during my thesis.

The goal of the thesis project is to design and develop an enterprise freight management application in .NET for Exalt Freight Services division (EFS). In 6 months time, this thesis project produced the Australia’s first managed freight services solution for trade industry. After the thesis, the company hired me for another 3 months to implement additional features to this product.This freight management software, that is mainly used to generate freight labels to attach on each freight item, should provide functionalities that require higher level of abstraction to accommodate multiple carriers, at the same time providing an intuitive unified user interface to generate freight labels. Besides the standard offering in the market, the functionalities include: estimated carrier specific freight cost calculation; proactive status reporting and automatic retrieval of Poof of Delivery on customer request; statistical reports on consignments and manifests; and the ability to import addresses and consignments from 3rd party software by providing import templates.

The Software Factory (SoFa) is an initiative of Fontys Applied University Venlo, to have their students experience the realistic working environment, using a strict software engineering, test phase and quality assurance. The project “SoFa KRZN” concentrates on developing a J2EE plug-in for the enterprise information system of Kommunales Rechenzentrum Niederrhein, a German data processing centre for municipalities, to perform statistical evaluations and generate tax reports efficiently.As a project manager my tasks are: main contact person for the team members; planning activities and milestones; distributing tasks with the workload of other projects in mind; team motivation.As a developer my tasks are: designing and developing a XML Administration Client in Java/J2EE that efficiently allow the administrator of the enterprise system to access and modify remote configuration files.

RawFlow is a central London based software company that has developed a P2P solution for live streaming distribution, and a website allowing end-users to broadcast live to the world. My tasks were: testing the Selfcast website; developing a chat control and some pages for broadcasters on the Selfcast website; design, development and testing of a new feature called “Client Launcher”, which is a service that is installed by the end-users that handles automatic updates, and management of multiple instances and versions of RawFlow’s P2P client.The tasks above required extensive knowledge of C++, .Net, SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Travel Hold'em Student Company was an initiative of Fontys Applied University to have their students experience the real life business world in a multi-disciplinary way. The company consisted of fifteen students from the following disciplines: Software Engineering, International Business Management, Mechatronics and Marketing Management. We produced affordable travel poker-sets and cards-packs.For a six months period, I fulfilled the roll of an IT manager. My tasks included creating company website with company presentation in mind, simple web-shop that required only few clicks to complete online shopping for our customers and designed product pictures and logo’s together with the marketing team to present our products to the customers. As a manager, I prioritized the tasks I was given and managed to complete them in the given time frame together with my assistant.

I worked for my university's growing multi-media library as a library assistor during the evening hours. During this evening hours pilot, I was in charge of the books and media equipment reservation as well as the library shop.These reservations were managed by the LBS4 and Fontys reservation system.Besides these tasks, I assisted the library staff sorting out the returns, arranged the books back, surveillance the library into avoiding any theft, provided students with necessary information and computer support.

At Yellow Yellow B.V., I worked on the project Uitzendbureau.nl. It is a Dutch job offer website that collects job offers from different type of websites and publishes them in an organized and accessible way for wide range of users.My tasks involved: writing parsers for retrieving other website content using regular expressions; refactoring the existing code base; increasing the efficiency of the search engine; developing different type of search methods.

John Deere Enschede B.V concentrates on the production of mowing machines and small tractors. My daily tasks included providing computer support for the employees, administrating the back-ups and repairing computers with hardware defects.As the internship project I implemented Microsoft System Management Service (SMS) throughout the whole company, packaged software using Macrovision InstallShield and deployed software packages using the combination of SMS and Active Directory.During my last weeks, I developed ISO9001 website templates in pure HTML for Quality Control department and developed "Doors & Keys" management tool in Microsoft Access. This management tool helped the IT Manager keep track of the owners of the keys and the doors the keys belonged to. The simplified graphical interface was written in VBA.

Locamation is a leading company in the development and production of innovative electrical products, such as industrial computers, flat panel PCs, embedded controllers and etc., geared to each individual customer's requirements.As an intern I assisted the network administrator with administrating Windows NT network, mainly managing different networks and DNS-, DHCP Server.As my internship project I was asked to replace current services that are operating under Winodws to Linux. This project included research and implementation of ]Samba-, VNC-, Mail-, Proxy- and Xinetd Services under Linux. I also implemented packet filtering, using IPTABLES, to enhance the server security.After implementing the required services under Linux, I assisted the team with administrating users and joined network of Linux and Windows NT.
