Rajendra Baid started business, when he was 16 year old in his father's motor parts shop at Siliguri. After graduation in 1967, took active part in business associations and social service clubs in different positions. With practical business experience, combined with public life experience, he entered into many businesses. First independent work was real estate investment in Siliguri. In 1975, he started newspaper publication. Janpath Samachar is the leading hindi daily of 6 districts of North Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan. In 1980, he was elected as municipal commissioner of Siliguri Municipality, supported by CPI (M). In 1990, he started the Cindrella Hotel at Siliguri, which is the best star hotel of Siliguri.He went for public issue of two companies, which are listed at Bombay Stock Exchange. He is looking after public relation and marketing.
