Senior Director - International at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s premier business association which works for the development of Indian industry in partnership with Government and civil society.Rajesh works on strategies and initiatives to increase India’s engagement with East Asian countries - Japan, South Korea, China including Hong Kong and Taiwan, to promote investments to and from the region in key sectors / industries. Also oversees CII initiatives in Latin America and Caribbean region too. Closely interacts with leaders in Business across sectors, Government, Institutions etc in the region on issues relating to investment policies, trade facilitation and other economic matters and present them at appropriate forums. Earlier as Regional Director of Africa, he has been part of various business delegations including some led by PM, President and Vice President of India and visited more than 25 African countries. During this stint, he facilitated Project Partnership between businesses of India and Africa to set up more than 40 projects worth $ 1 billion. CII opened representative offices in Egypt and South Africa, to support and Indian Industry in Africa during his tenure.Prior to this, headed the CII China Office and was based in Shanghai for five years since August 2008. Responsible for launching of India Business Forum was launched in China, in April 2009 to promote the cause of Indian businesses in China and facilitate them to set up their operations apart from promoting investments into India. Unique experience of around 25 years working in Corporate and Government – both at Central, State & District level apart from extensive International work exposure to countries across East Asia, Gulf, Africa, Europe, ASEAN and other regions. Government liaising, policy advocacy and public policy work across various departments has been a critical piece of his work especially interacting with Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Niti Ayog, DPIIT and other Departments of Government of India. In the initial part of his career, Rajesh has worked in various cities in South India where he closely worked with the local small and medium industries in their business development and has also worked on various developmental projects with State / District Administrations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.Key Strengths : International Business Development & Investment Promotion, Policy Advocacy & Government Networking, Corporate Social Responsibility, Strategic Planning and Team Management.
