I have been working as SQL Server Database Administrator/Database Engineer from past 8 years and had the opportunity to support mission critical databases for large Enterprise environments. Heavily experienced in handling very large databases ranging from 2TB to 50TB and associated challenges. I have been highly involved in datacenter migrations, upgrades, cloud migrations in an OLTP environments, have experience in migrating highly transactional databases from standalone and clustered (Highly Available) environments with minimal downtime. The key things that have helped in all successful migrations are careful assessment, planning, testing and rollback plan. If I would have to speak from my latest experience, last year we have migrated our on-prem 70 TB of SQL Server databases from SQL Server 2016 to AWS EC2 (Windows 2016/SQL Server 2016) with very minimal downtime and this year I have led the SQL Server 2019 upgrade, also migrated SQL Server 2016 databases to AWS RDS using Database Migration service, with recent announcement from Amazon about Babelfish for Aurora PostgreSQL, I have started doing a POC for identifying the challenges by running AWS SCT source being SQL Server vs target PostgreSQL. Following are some of the key areas I have expertise in * Build resilient systems (Windows server, configuring storage and server, SQL Installation, Cluster configuration).* Automating recurring tasks. * Database Security (Access control, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Backup Encryption, Volume Encryption).* High Availability (Mirroring, Log Shipping, Clustering, Always On Availability Groups) and Disaster Recovery * Backups and Restores (Point in time recovery).* Performance Tuning.* Writing complex and highly optimized sql queries and stored procedures.* Partitioning (Vertical, Horizontal). * Windows server update service for Patching.* Database Corruption Recovery. * Very Large OLTP Databases(50TB).* Windows Storage Spaces. * PowerShell scripting.* Ensuring high uptime.Strong information technology professional with a master’s degree focused on Computer Science.
