Rajesh Ramanathan is committed to improving cancer care delivery. As the Co-Director of the GI Cancer Program at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, he was instrumental in implementing a nurse navigation program for patients with GI malignancies. This facilitated timely and appropriate initial visits as well as coordination of subsequent care. Focused on the patient experience and streamlining care, he led the development of disease-specific MultiDisciplinary Clinics which have allowed for patients to meet all their cancer providers in a single day. These clinics decreased the time it takes to get them on treatment. As a surgical oncologist specializing in hepatobiliary and complex GI cancers, he has led the expansion of access to complex gastrointestinal cancer care to patients in the western part of the State. He has also brought innovative technologies and treatments for advanced stages of cancer such as HIPEC and hepatic artery infusion to the Southwest.
