Emuzed, the startup I co-founded, was acquired by Flextronics in 2005. I was charged with managing the P&L of the mobile multimedia software business unit delivering solutions to mobile OEMs and Service Providers in the US, Europe and Asia. Parallelly, I was part of the CTO's office working on a few strategic projects aimed at adding value to the OEM.

Our vision at Emuzed was to power every smartphone with music playback, photo capture and video communications. In 2001, very few phones had multimedia capabilities and smartphones were just being designed. We started the company in 2001 just before the tech bust. With VC funding having dried up, our only source of sustaining and growing was revenues.

Lucent Digital Video was spun out from Lucent in 1997 with internal venture funding. The US was transitioning to Digital TV from analog around 1997; and we at LDV were instrumental in bringing about this change by developing broadcast encoding and decoding video products. I was responsible for the algorithms and software of our High Definition encoding.
