In the role of Development Manager in Epicor R&D, I focus on keeping the Epicor ERP 10 platform scalable , high performance and one that delivers throughput that meets or exceeds the demands of customers from Manufacturing, Distribution and Financial verticals. My SCRUM team focuses on conducting performance and scalability benchmarks of the ERP product using Visual Studio Ultimate. We proactively eliminate performance / scalability bottlenecks from the product before the product reaches customer's hands. We develop Performance and diagnostics tooling and techniques that are helpful to the Epicor ERP community of customers, partners, VARs and consultants. The role involves interacting with internal and external customers and sometimes prospects.

Performance tuning at application code / algorithm level. Conduct benchmarking / scale labs to make the Epicor ERP platform performant and scalable. Develop best practices for coding and application deployment based on scale labs done @ Microsoft labs.

Product Development of Vantage 8.0 (Sonoma) and Epicor ERP 9 software. Part of the team spread across multiple continents that converted a client server application written in OpenEdge Progress 4GL technology (Vantage 6.1) to the N-Tier platform (Epicor ERP). The front-end was converted to .NET WinForms and the server code written in service oriented, stateless OpenEdge / Progress 4GL tier. It was a very interesting experience for me writing code that is stateless, scalabale, supported multiple OS and SQL Server and OpenEdge / Progress RDBMS. This new product allowed Epicor's customer a choice of database (SQL / OpenEdge) and they also benefited from the open service oriented architecture.

Software Development, Technical consulting on Progress based technologies. Application development GUI and Web based. Performance Tuning.Developed the backend and front end logic for internet based list fulfillment system for Progress's client called Market Data Retrieval. The backend logic was written in WebSpeed / 4GL and AppServer. Frontend in HTML JavaScript. I wrote the backend logic for order configurator that generated the web pages dymacially based on input from the previous page of order wizard. I also integrated the web based system's logic with the legacy system.Developed a production ticket system for a printing company. Full stack development for this intranet based website.Conducted several assignments that included mentoring people on how to develop Web sites using Progress's WebSpeed product. Also conducted a performance tuning assignments for Progress's customers.

Worked as Tech lead / Consultant. I had the opportunity to work on several interesting projects in various parts of the world.My last project through Tata was to lead a team of 4 people that did a Y2K Audit of the trading system used by Bombay Stock Exchange, India. The project was a success and no issues were notice on the first day of trading in the current millennium.Consulting engagement for NCDC (now called NISC.coop). I was part of the team from Tata that successfully re-engineered NCDC's Telephone billing system from a main frame / COBOL based system to a modern application architecture involving 4GL language and OpenEdge RDBMS. We did some large scale refactoring of complex modules to make it more open / performant and relevant for the modern world. We converted all modules of legacy Horizon system that included telephone billing, generating consumer bills, carrier access billing system (CABS).I was involved in this project for about 2.5 years and during various phases of the project I played the role of key developer, hands-on technical lead and then site coordinator during the implementation phase. I was grateful to be part of this project as I got full life-cycle application development experience in converting a large / complex legacy application to n-tier modern application.I enjoyed my stay in Mandan, ND and interacted with some wonderful people that work at NCDC.

Support home grown business apps written in Oracle based technologies. Got a chance to work on Oracle on Unix platform. This was a small IT department. We did everything. Wrote cool apps and helped users with everything related to IT function. Somebody's printer not working is also a valid request and I might add an important request that a programmer like me has to look into.Gained experienced working for an apex organization of a very successful dairy cooperative movement.
