About Rajib Roy

I love fluid dynamics! Once in a while, you will find me tinkering with a scaled model at the wind tunnel. But most of the time, I am building physics-based computational models and running virtual experiments in my workstation. Whether a butterfly or a colossal wind turbine, from flow over a vehicle to local weather systems, with multi-scale Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) I can run a virtual experiment in a short design cycle. Using shell and Python scripts, I automated the CFD workflow: CAD to post-processing; key criterions are distilled without manual intervention.My doctoral research focus is on minimizing artificial dissipation, improving accuracy and robustness for the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) in unstructured grid applications. I am also experienced in the hybrid RANS-LES method for high Reynolds number boundary layer resolved flow modeling, which brings the best of both modeling spectrum in a computationally efficient manner. I am currently collaborating with my colleagues at the University of Wyoming to couple flow scales from the atmospheric boundary layer to blade resolved wind farm simulation.My specialties include quickly learning new skills, problem-solving, CAD geometry creation, structural analysis, CFD meshing and model development, multi-objective optimization, creating stunning visuals in post-processing and work-flow automation. I have extensively used C++ and python, and deployed flow models in the multi-core high-performance computing environment (HPC) for parallel execution.In my spare time, I am out on the hiking trail honing my landscape photography techniques, building origami models for my daughter or cooking with my wife.CFD or fun outdoor in the Rocky Mountain valley; I would love to get in touch!
