About Raji Menon (Mim-Cpc)
I obtained my degree in Marketing and Management from Curtin University of Technology in 2008. A year later, I left for Perth, Australia to pursue my Masters in Arts (Journalism) also from Curtin University. Upon completing my Masters, I did a short stint as a reporter/journalist at the Sun managing to get five stories published, before going on to work as a business analyst for Theta SP. My two years’ work experience at Theta encompassed several tasks ranging from conducting business requirements study with end users, preparing functional requirement specifications (FRS) documents, and writing user manuals for end-users and trainers. At Theta, I was thrown into the deep-end of technical writing, but I used to the opportunity to challenge myself, and in the process created templates the company could use for all future technical documents.At present, I am a Content Developer tech lead for the Esri International Support Centre (ISC). I started as a content writer in the company in 2013. The job demanded for a focus on copy editing and writing, two of my passion, with a strong emphasis on quality. These skills were called to the fore when copy editing and writing Wiki GIS articles, blog posts, newsletters and most importantly technical articles for the Esri Support site. In 2015, I was promoted to team lead of the content development team, and the it has been a rewarding journey thus far. I've learnt how to manage, delegate, coach, and mentor my team, and I'm constantly looking for ways to motivate and inspire the people I am leading. I am a firm believer of pursuing what you are passionate about and working hard to achieve your goals. My personal quote is ‘The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will’ reflecting my importance of preserving a can-do attitude in the face of any challenges presented. ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the job are:•Provide content development services that include writing, copy editing, and moderating content in accordance with the company’s style guide. • Produce content such as technical articles, WiKi articles, newsletters, and blogs for the knowledge base repository. • Conduct Content Quality Evaluations (CQEs) (by the lead).Technical articles• Review article feedback and initiate document remediation in consultation with the ESS – OSR Documentation team in Redlands.• Produce high quality technical articles to increase call deflection, and customer satisfaction• Review legacy technical articles and perform updates and revisions as needed to keep content relative and accurate.• Revise, edit, rewrite and carry out structural remediation for making legacy articles search engine optimization (SEO) compliant.• Check existing articles for their applicability to new versions of the software. This is a time-bound, periodic activity that is coordinated with new software releases.• Revise and update existing articles to support new product releases.• Revise and maintain articles based on user feedback, new incidents and ArcGIS Ideas.• Identify articles for legacy/retired products and update or archive them per defined processes.• Mark bug articles and references when fixed in various service packs and cross-link them with relevant knowledge base articles, downloads, Web help or other online resources.• Add service packs, hot fixes, or version update links to the articles related to bugs that have been fixed.• Search existing articles and cross-link with new ones to consolidate information and help users select the right context. Also carry out cross-repository linking as required to Wiki.GIS.com topics, the GIS Dictionary, ArcGIS Ideas, white papers and Web help.• Create index articles to group and consolidate similar content types, online resources or topics.
