Fitch (erstwhile Duff & Phelps and now India Ratings & Research, in India) is one of the top three global ratings agencies, other two being S&P and Moody’s. At Fitch, I was Regional Head - South India for 3 years (2001-2004), meeting C-Suite leaders. Post 2004, my focus turned to ratings, wherein I assessed the risk of around 100 entities spanning different verticals, primarily Corporates, offering invaluable insights into dynamics of several industries. I have rated State Governments and public finance institutions, NBFCs and Infrastructure entities. I was a member on the Ratings Committee for Infrastructure entities. At A J Mohan and Associates, as a partner and Regional Head - Chennai for 5 years, my experience spanned banks’ concurrent audit (3 banks), stock audit (25 entities), revenue audit (10 branches), ASM audit (1 company) and CGTMSE audit (1 bank). This provided the lender’s perspective (Fitch provided the borrower’s perspective). Besides checking compliance with bank’s policies (coming down from RBI), my highlights on risk profile and performance added color to the report. I was also the Committee member for stock audit reports. Moreover, my work in a PSE internal audit assignment was highly acclaimed for its suggestions for improvement.
