PlazaPOPS emerges as a grassroots initiative, offering a cost-effective solution to repurpose parking lots into vibrant community hubs. Addressing the dearth of amenities along Toronto's suburban arterials, PlazaPOPS aims to invigorate these areas while preserving their unique character. Through context-sensitive approaches, PlazaPOPS fosters community engagement and supports local businesses. These installations serve as versatile venues for hosting a variety of events, from festivals and concerts to art classes, amplifying the cultural richness of Toronto's inner suburbs.

As Archives in Action (AiA) Research Assistants, our collective role is pivotal in bolstering the Canadian Audio-Visual Archive Policy Plan (AiA) Symposium scheduled for July 9-11, 2024. Together, we contribute to regional workshops, addressing policy challenges and their effects on the creative and cultural realms, with particular emphasis on promoting equitable preservation practices. Our collaborative efforts extend to shaping an advocacy narrative aimed at engaging stakeholders in exhibition, production, and heritage preservation. Furthermore, we collaborate with fellow research assistants nationwide to produce written content and deliver our insights for the National Action Plan.

In my role, I oversee architectural design projects, ensuring alignment with client specifications and budget constraints. This involves liaising with technical agencies, estimating budgets, and providing quotations. Additionally, I lead the execution of both exterior and interior projects, producing detailed working drawings and 3D visualizations to bring concepts to life.

I closely collaborated with the Senior Architect to conceptualize interior design ideas, ensuring their alignment with project objectives. This involved a collaborative effort of conducting comprehensive market surveys to inform our creative direction. Subsequently, as designs were finalized, I assumed responsibility for overseeing their implementation and conducting site visits to ensure adherence to quality standards and project specifications, while also providing invaluable support during client meetings to ensure effective communication and execution of their vision.
