The Senior Associate provides crucial assistance on the implementation of the KOICA CSA project's output 1.1 which aims to strengthen capacity and systems of local governments to manage agricultural climate risk. The capacity of local government staff is being strengthened for climate crisis management through improved access and utilization of climate data relevant to the agricultural sector.The major responsibilities are:• Support the project municipalities in establishing and operationalizing the Local Emergency Operation Centers (LEOCs). Establish GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) sensitive SOP for emergency response with components such as preparedness, information and data base management, search and rescue, relief and response, communication and internal and external coordination with District Emergency Operation Centers (DEOCs), Provincial Emergency Operation Center (PEOC) and National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC).• Establish GESI sensitive municipal systems for information sharing and management, linked to Early Warning System (EWS) and Weather Information (WI) Assessment in the agricultural sector.• Train and strengthen capacity of municipal government for data and information management related to climate risk and response in the agriculture sector.• Lead engagement with key government counterparts, private sector institutions, relevant academic institutions and, non-governmental agencies to identify best-practices, lessons to be learned in development of and implementation of capacity-building and awareness raising related to climate change/disaster-risk reduction.• Lead coordination among GGGI/partner experts to consolidate a coherent curriculum of best-practices in climate change/disaster-risk reduction in Nepal.

Congregational Transboundary Flood Resilience Project (C-TBR) has a goal to increase flood reslience of the transboundary communities of Koshi and Narayani / Gandak rivers basins in Nepal and India. The proejct targets to reduce flood vulnerabilities of the communities through strong community-based DRR Institutions and resilient community infrastructures , to improve communities economic capitals through climate-smart, flood-resilient livelihoods and safety net options and to strengthen and capacitate Trans-boundary Citizen Forums (TBCF) for DRR and EWS, private-public-partnership, policy advocacy to their local and national governments related to transboundary issues on flood. Similarly, Strengthening Local Governance for Disaster-Resilient Communities in Nepal is a USAID/BHA funded project that supports in strengthening the resilience of local governments and communities in Siraha and Saptari through improved Risk Management Policy and Practice, Agriculture and Food Security and Economic Recovery and Market Systems. I as a Project Managers is responsible for - Provide technical backstopping, monitoring, supervision to the 4 partners NGOs in Nepal and India for smooth delivery of the project activites such that the activities supports in meeting project goal, objectives and outcomes. - Provide necessary capacity building coaching, orientation and training to partner staffs about Resilience, local level DRR plans and policies, Early Warning System, Market Led Flood Resilient Livelihoods and market systems. - Ensure that partners have maintained all DMEL’ requirements and have achieved results as per the planned outputs and outcomes. - Overall management of the project in regards to partnership management with the local partners and effective coordination and partnership with relevant governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the projective achievements.

National Climate Change Support Program (NCCSP) is a UNDP NIM Project. The project has envisioned for Climate Resilient Development Project (CRDP) approaches in 14 Palikas (one in each of the 14 NCCSP districts). The focus of the program under next one year will be in implementing priority climate resilient development sub-projects identified by each 14 Palikas in their plan, capacity development, helping them to embed climate resilience into their development plans for the next fiscal year as well as document learning of the project implementation under federal set up for future up-scaling. I am working as a regional Engineer in the project who will be supporting the 14 districts / Palikas in implementing climate resilient development projects. The major responsibilities are :  Ensure that Palika infrastructures funded under the project meet the climate resilient standards in design, implementation, cost and quality Prepare detailed design, cost estimate, work plan with milestones in collaboration with Palikas, NCCSP field team and other partners as required.  Provide regular technical back up and field monitoring visits to ensure that the implementation of the projects are proceeding as planned and trouble shoot as appropriate.  Provide necessary trainings to field staffs and implementing partners including Palika engineers/sub-engineers, planners etc. on how projects should be designed and implemented in a climate resilient manner, as required. Regularly review the contractual provisions between the project, Palikas, and implementing partners and ensure compliances Prepare regular updates and report on the progress including issues, risks and mitigating measures adopted.  Quality assurance of the infrastructures during implementation and ensure implementation as per the contractual provisions and milestones.

- The project Coordinator - Livelihood Engineer is overall responsible for the implementation of livelihood component of Nepal ECHO flood response project in Terai, Salahi. - The position is responsible to meet compliance on project management at various stages of implementation as guided by SCI policies and the donor policies; support partners to follow SCI compliance & working principles throughout the project cycle. - The position requires regular consultations with elected office bearers and concerned government staffs of rural and urban municipalities or ward committees thereof and district line agencies (such as district coordination office, district agriculture development office, irrigation office etc) for partnership and collaboration. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating with other NGOs and agencies working in the district. - This position requires to oversee the implementation, monitoring, budgeting and capacity building of PNGO staff in Sarlahi for this project. The project coordinator will prepare partnership agreement and ensure compliance. - The project coordinator shall coordinate in selection of schemes to be rehabilitated after the August 2017 flood. Make detail design estimate of the rehabilitation works. Supervising and technical backstopping to the PNGO for service delivery. Monitor project activities and review. Regular documentation and reporting of the project activities.- The incumbent shall work as a manager for overall supervision and management of the Nepal ECHO Flood Response Project in Terai (Sarlahi) .

• Resources mobilization for establishment of End to End Flood Early Warning System and support in strengthening the capacity of government, non-government and community members in delivering and responding to flood early warning.• Effectively implement the planned and approved activities and strategies at the sites on time for the target outputs and beneficiaries by mobilizing project team, partner(s), communities and stakeholders as and when necessary• Develop education, awareness and extension materials such as project briefs, lessons learned papers, policy brief papers etc. for sharing the experiences of and information on the project with partners, visitors, stakeholders, beneficiaries and policy makers• Review and update country policies and regional policies on disaster risk reduction, and identify Practical Action Nepal’s position for influencing the policy• Manage and mobilise the available resources within the limit of the project for maximum results by allocating and distributing across the project activities in line with project document• Coordinate with district line agencies, partners, communities, project beneficiaries and other stakeholders at project level for effective delivery of project activities• Strengthen community and stakeholders awareness and capacity in data and information sharing, understanding, monitoring and preparing for effective EWS and response to the flood disaster in the Kankai River Basin

Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Programme Fast Tracking Millennium Development Goals and Safeguarding Development Gains (MDGTFI). Support the Community Based Disaster Risk Management Committee (CBDRMC), Community Forest User Groups (CFUG), Farmers Group (FG), in maintaining downward and upward accountability while implementing the development activities.

The main role of the Field Officer is to provide substantive assistance on the overall implementation of the activities in the field and will be stationed in the project site During the tenure of her/his service, the UN Volunteer will be involved with the broad range of stakeholders from national to local level and a large number of meetings/workshops/trainings which will benefit to shape their career in the future.
