Computational biologist trained in interdisciplinary subjects of life sciences, mathematics, and computer programming during master's and PhD. The fundamental aspects and mechanisms of genome regulation fascinate me and would like to work toward a better understanding of these mechanisms through my training in computational biology in areas such as genomics, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis. I would like to expand my understanding and expertise in the fields of cancer genomics, host-pathogen interactions, etc., and contribute to translation the of knowledge into therapeutic and biotechnological applications.During my PhD time at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, I have worked on understanding the fundamentals of gene regulation at the interplay of transcription factors (TFs) and the genome organization. We have developed a computational method and associated tool, ChromTogether (https://github.com/rakeshnetha14/ChromTogether), to infer the statistically significant interactions between transcription factors such as cooperative, and competitive behaviors of TFs in the context of 3D genome organization. The method has been developed to address and handle large datasets of sequencing techniques that address various biochemical activities of the genome. For example, datasets of ChIP-seq, which profile positions of binding of a protein on the genome, and 3C methods, which profile proximal chromatin interactions of the genome to give a 3D organization genome have been used to understand the general mechanisms of gene regulation. Other collaboration projects during my PhD involve genomic analysis of some fungal species such as Candida auris and Malassezia species. I am skilled at and have experience in working with large genomic datasets, bioinformatic tools, and pipelines of various omic data from NGS experimental techniques. I excel in programming languages and computing skills such as Python, R, Matlab, bash programming, and remote working on HPC clusters.As a postdoctoral researcher, I am currently working on single-cell multi-omic datasets to understand gene regulation in hormonal signaling systems. I am also utilizing these approaches to understand the disease progression of prostate and breast cancers.
