About Raland Hatchett

From the beginning of my education journey as the first member of my family to attend college, I have been driven by a relentless desire to never give up. This perseverance was honed during my college years, where I faced and overcame numerous challenges. Culminating in obtaining my MBA, this determination became the foundation of my career, devoted to service and community focus. In my professional journey, I have served in executive leadership roles for several nonprofit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters. In these roles, my business mindset and team leadership have been instrumental in navigating complex organizational landscapes and driving significant transformations. One of my most rewarding experiences was leading Big Brothers Big Sisters through a critical transition. The organization needed stability and a renewed strategy to better serve its clients, board of directors, staff, vendors, and community stakeholders. By implementing a strategy focused on building trust, enhancing communication, and refining our client base, we were able to reposition the organization effectively. Within six months, we saw significant progress, and by the end of my tenure, the organization was stabilized and poised for growth. This success was not just about achieving organizational goals but also about instilling a culture of perseverance and commitment in my teams. I encouraged them to focus on our mission and continuously improve our services for our customers. This principle of never giving up has been a guiding force throughout my career, helping me to inspire and lead through various political environments and challenges.Transitioning from an employee to a consultant was a natural step for me. My MBA provided essential business knowledge and skills, which have been invaluable in helping nonprofits sustain, improve, and grow to meet their missions and funders' expectations.I have always had a desire to learn and share knowledge with the community. This affinity for helping others, combined with my leadership abilities and board roles, underscores my commitment to service. My business school training is a great differentiator, providing nonprofit organizations with the tools they need to achieve sustainability and growth. My career has always been about service, which drives my consulting business. I view nonprofits like for-profits: they must be sustainable, improve, and grow. My perseverance, community focus, business mindset, and leadership enable me to impact the nonprofit sector meaningfully.
