Served on an independent advisory committee preparing science-informed analyses of proposed environmental restoration measures to reduce emissions of airborne particulate dust and to mitigate associated air pollution impacts on public health for communities downwind of the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area (ODSVRA) on California's Central Coast.Engaged with state and local regulatory bodies, including the California Department of Parks and Recreation, the San Luis Obispo Air Pollution Control District, the California Coastal Commission, and the California Air Resources Board.

Lead climate science policy activities for the majority staff of the House Select Committee on the Climate Climate Crisis. Engage with stakeholders and evaluate legislative policy options to mitigate and adapt to climate change.Contributed to the Select Committee's report: "Solving the Climate Crisis: The Congressional Action Plan for a Clean Energy Economy and a Healthy, Resilient, and Just America."Awarded the 2019-20 American Geosciences Institute (AGI) William L. Fisher Congressional Geosciences Fellowship, part of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science & Technology Policy Fellowships program.

Led efforts to improve policies and practices to increase public access to research findings, data, and other products generated through funding support from NSF's Directorate for Geosciences (GEO).Guided updates to GEO policies for data management plans (DMPs), coordinated funding activities (e.g., EarthCube) through the GEO CI (Cyberinfrastructure) Working Group, informed policy development through the NSF-wide Public Access Working Group, and engaged with science & data stakeholders, such as through the American Geophysical Union (AGU) "Enabling FAIR Data" initiative.

Developed and confirmed new theory to predict wind-blown sand movement to understand dynamics of sand dunes relevant to atmospheric dust generation, coastal flood protection, and soil erosion.Coordinated multi-university field campaigns at sites in California and Brazil, applying novel methods for acquisition of coupled high-frequency wind and sand transport measurements.Designed, coordinated, and mentored 3 undergraduate and 3 graduate research projects.Published research products including 10 peer-reviewed scientific articles (8 published, 2 under review), 5 citable datasets, and 1 GitHub software repository.Awarded an National Science Foundation (NSF) Earth Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to support work.

As a culmination of my Ph.D. dissertation, completed laboratory experiments and published a research article on the dispersion of sediment particle tracers.

Applied statistical and image analysis tools to understand the dispersion of sediment and solute pollutants, evolution of river and desert landforms, and sediment hazard prediction.Founded and directed 3 “Art of Research” Graduate Research Symposia at Penn through service as Vice President for Public Affairs for the School of Arts and Sciences Graduate Student Government.Coordinated and mentored 2 undergraduate research projects and worked as teaching assistant for 3 undergraduate Earth science courses, including organization of research-themed field trips.Published research products including 9 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 1 citable dataset.Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship to support my research and education.
