Based on more than 35 years of experience, I provide technical, legal and policy advice in the fields of disarmament and non-proliferation, with particular emphasis on the control of chemical and biological weapons as well as of the materials and technologies for their manufacture. I analyse the impact of advances in science and technology on the control regimes regarding chemical and biological weapons, and advise on governance measures in academia and industry including codes of conduct for scientists as well as education and awareness raising regarding the management of chemical and biological risks. I provide technical advice on preparedness for and consequence management of incidents involving toxic chemicals.
