 Operate, observe, and monitor computers, database applications, and peripheral equipment for faulty output and errors to ensure overall correct operation procedures. Adjust, manipulate, and respond to console requests, commands, workflow procedures, and job runs. Analyze and attempt to determine source of system errors, malfunctions, job stoppages, and program information to ensure that operation standards are met and upheld. Identify and attempt to resolve system issues in order to maintain services, enhance capabilities, and prevent system outages. Report system problems to appropriate technical staff and confer with them to resolve production issues. Operate and maintain peripheral equipment as required, including mounting tape drives, hard disk drives, printers, and consoles. Review and evaluate production printouts, reports, and files to ensure the optimal performance and quality standards of mainframe computers. Perform day-to-day maintenance of systems hardware, tape drives, and related equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues for end-users, and assist with end-user questions or programming inquiries. Where required, perform system backups to tape. Assist in development and drafting of operating instruction documents and data analysis methodologies for use by other personnel. Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts. Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in mainframe systems.  Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.

 Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze call trends . Assist with escalated calls. Provide monthly statistical reports.  Administer the knowledge base.  Administer ticket tracking data base. Provide input in the employee review process. Schedule resources for help desk support hours Monitor calls.
