I joined Octel Communications in May 1983 as an electronic technician, where I was in charge of setting up the test department. Was reassigned to Manufacturing engineering in 85, to help with the development of new products and improve existing products. Worked on the design of the power system for the Aspen, our first product, and later helped engineering with the design, assembly and testing of other systems. I helped with the qualification of company to supply parts and assemblies to Octel. Later in my career at Octel I was resigned to an new department which involved the team work of purchasing and engineers to qualify suppliers and work with them to improve the quality of their products, In this position I worked as a Supplier Quality Engineer to reduce our supplier base and increase the quality of the assemblies received.I worked with most all our suppliers at one time or another. They included power supplies, disk drives, cable assemblies and harnesses, pc boards, and at times sheet metal products.Shortlyl after Octel was acquired by Lucent Technologies, the different departments were split up and after a while were sold off to other companies. For a short time I also was part of Avaya, then moved back to Lucent. My devision was sold to Sanmina, at which time I decided to retire, so in September 2000, I ended my 17 year with Octel and moved to Reno, Nevada.Specialties: Quality improvement, design improvement, Quality engineering, electronic engineering.
