Currently working as a Firmware Staff Engineer at Edwards Fire in Bradenton, Florida. I bring almost 40 years of experience in designing, debugging, and delivering complex embedded systems to my daily work. The design and implementation of deeply embedded systems is my specialty - but I do much more than write and debug code.Embracing Test Driven Development in the last decade has been a real game-changer for my career, and I'm trying to make it my mission to spread the word and bring Continuous Integration and Delivery to developers of deeply embedded systems. I founded the "ev3dev" project - a modified Debian Wheezy distribution that runs on the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 programmable brick. This distribution fits on a micro SD card and gives users the ability to program the EV3 without a complex IDE on any platform that supports ssh or telnet. Scripting languages such as bash, awk, Python, Lua, Scheme, perl, and soon Google Go are supported on ev3dev.Thanks to dedicated volunteers - especially David Lechner - the project continues to develop on its own.
