I love writing important stories: about new technologies, promising drugs, pioneering innovations. Before moving to Australia in 2008, I worked as a news reporter and PR consultant in the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and Kenya. Since making Melbourne home, I’ve worked as a writer and editor for a diverse range of clients: from corporate giants like Telstra, to small (and meaningful) not-for-profits; from state and federal agencies to biotech start-ups, researchers, policy think-tanks, and fundraising strategists. After more than 30 years in Asia and Africa, I keep my passion for different cultures alive by supporting a number of refugee and community advocacy groups here in Melbourne.My recent work has included:• Collaborating with governments, donors and charitable foundations in the preparation of strategic plans, annual reports and fundraising appeals• Crafting online content and promotional literature for the health, biotech, renewables and human services sectors• Communicating complex topics in engaging and accessible language, e.g. clinical trials, youth mental health, post-conflict reconciliation• Telling the stories of marginalised and vulnerable communities, e.g. refugees, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities.
