Notifiable Disease Surveillance & Informatics Coordinator
• Guided implementation of Hawai`i’s Bio-Terrorism Response Suite for 150 users.• Guided and developed Hawai`i’s National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) initiative, full development cycle. Planned and executed NEDSS custom ETL processes using MS SQL Server, XML, MS Excel, and MS Access to integrate 8 varied legacy systems.• Configured, managed, and created reporting for data on published MRSA study.• Developed 4 disease-response databases, often in emergencies, which resulted in awards for the response team. A federal grant reviewer called a 5th database the best of its kind in the country.• Participated in the Hawai`i Strategic National Stockpile Exercise and planning.• Participated in national health informatics conferences, founded the healthDB discussion list and a 3-state (UT, CA, HI) user’s group for users of PHS3, a NEDSS solution.• Greatly improved our relationships with other agencies, including other states.• Supported or assisted 5 State sites; TB, STD, HIV/AIDS, Epidemiology, and Immunization.• Received training on handling of HIV/AIDS data by CDC staff.
