In 1980, fresh out of the Navy, I came to work at Numatic Engineering. I began by engineering air-logic control panels for our value-add department. This was a time when dozens of pneumatic devices (air relays, air timers, air pushbuttons, valves, etc.) were combined into circuits to automate machines, just as we use PLCs today.After design engineering, I worked for 30 years with customers as a field sales engineer where I’ve seen 10,000’s of different automation applications in all different industries. Now I want to share my pneumatic knowledge (and wisdom?) supporting Numatic customers across our entire organization, as well as write a monthly newsletter where I hope to share some of the lost art of pneumatic design.
