Working within the Marketing Team, I am responsible in this role in the creation of Point of Sale artwork. This is created from briefs supplied by a team of Marketing Advisors, this is then printed and implemented into Morrisons supermarkets nationwide.This is a fast paced, high workflow role within a busy department of this retailer, requiring swift execution and fast turnaround whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and detail. I am involved in working with a great number of differing commodities, both 2D and 3D, across many sizes, from shelf edge barkers to large scale banners and signage.

Reporting to the Artwork Manager, I produced print ready artwork across many categories; packaging, 3D gifting, stationery and many other greetings products. Aside from my main artworking duties, I was also responsible for training out software and mentoring Studio Designers to ensure a set level of design standards were met to allow a smooth transition of design work into the Artwork department. I was also a subject expert on the PETE workflow system, a bespoke data store and specification tool. From this, workloads are set and managed; design, artwork and specification briefs stored and communicated through to production.Further to this role, I was also an active representative of the People Board that would convene with the directors on a regular basis to facilitate employee communications.

I was responsible in a supporting role to the Design Manager on Family Games as part of the Christmas category, supplying solely to M&S’ T21 category. Through this position I further developed my skills in people management, inspiring and briefing designers. I also increased my design knowledge, through maintaining a design based workload and becoming more influential in the design and creation of our packaging. At our peak, we achieved over £3 million in sales, thanks in part to a very popular board game based on the X Factor. Within this role, I also supported my manager in designing and developing Christmas crackers and their packaging, as well as a Christmas focused plush range.After a category restructure, Family Games moved to become part of the Kids category and I assumed the role of Design Manager. The brief remained to produce a range of compelling card and board games to sell to M&S, this time into the T79 department. I was also required to devise and manage a range of games that would focus on children from the age of 3+.

The Studio Designer position involved working across many categories; Everyday, Events, Christmas and Stationery, across many formats. These included cards, bags, wrap, stationery, 3D gifting, games and packaging, which were all supplied to the T21 category in Marks & Spencer in our remit as sole supplier to them. As I progressed as a designer, I began to specialise more within the Christmas category working on Family Games both in packaging and content design and game play. This led to a promotion to the Assistant Manager position within the Christmas category in September 2008, working specifically on Family Games.

Originally a print only operation known as Lexus Print, I was employed to help establish a sister company, Paperprint Design & Print, concentrating solely on design. I was responsible for the day to day workload of this design department, which included meeting clients for briefings, designing, and liaison with repro and the neighbouring print room to ensure a smooth transition into production. Our output consisted of business cards and letterheads, promotional material, and the design of menus for the catering industry.
