Ralph Edwards is a leading listed option strategist and trader with extensive experience in building and managing derivative desks for sell-side broker dealers. Most recently he was at ITG, best known for its crossing network Posit as well as its suite of algorithms and trading cost analysis platforms.At ITG, Mr. Edwards created a derivatives strategy product, writing more than 500 separate research and sales and trading pieces in 18 months, providing daily analysis of option trading trends and strategy implementation ideas around the data-driven insights for which ITG Investment Research is known. In this role, Ralph was frequently quoted in the media including Barron’s, in the Wall Street Journal, as well as on Reuters, CNBC, and Bloomberg. He also spoke at several industry conferences while at ITG, including the annual “Superbowl of Indexing” held in Scottsdale, Arizona, about the use of options in yield enhancing strategies.Prior to ITG, Mr. Edwards was recruited to build the derivatives business at Sanford C. Bernstein. As the Alliance subsidiary expanded from a US-based equity execution-only business to a broad, global full-service model, the firm recognized Ralph’s more than twenty year experience and knowledge of critical aspects of the business. Working with top management including the CEO, he was responsible for the business’ design, focus and launch including staff selection and hiring, the implementation of the infrastructure needed, and the supporting efforts of legal and compliance, information technology, operations, risk management and audit teams. After graduating from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business with an MBA while working full-time on the CBOE, Mr. Edwards began his career at Merrill Lynch where he rose through the ranks over eleven years. Ralph also has a BA in Mathematics and a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
