Co-Founder and CEO at abstraction.Video games have a particular set of essentials that come together to create an experience; from the idea to the storyboard, the technical elements, the engaging visuals, the execution and game play and more importantly, the right people to make it all happen. I consider it my job to facilitate and inspire to make amazing things happen. My passion for gaming started way back with the venerated Commodore 64 and Amiga consoles. I honed my programming skills in industry for many years but the desire for autonomy and creative freedom led me to establish abstraction in 2007 as a Sole Proprietor. Nowadays, we're a corporation with over 80 staff members.I’m not a typical CEO. I still oversee most of our projects to at least some extent, so that every project adheres to our core values, giving rise to creativity, pixel perfection and game-play excellence. We’re gamers making games for our peers, we know how important every detail needs to be.I’m proud to say that once abstraction had become the definitive porting studio in the video game industry and is trusted to deliver top-tier IP’s across multiple platforms, very quickly abstraction also became known as a solid development studio, co-developing original IP together with high profile partners like Funcom, Paradox, Mythical Games, BioWare and 343 Industries. With all the experience and wisdom gathered along the way, abstraction is now well-prepared and ready to build their own original game content. These day’s I leave much of the actual coding to the wonderfully talented abstraction team and besides being a guardian of our core values, I spend much of my time researching and envisioning new business opportunities, gaming concepts and technologies, so we can stay ahead of the curve.
Listed skills include Game Programming, Game Development, Video Games, C#, and 46 others.

I have a set of studio wide technical responsibilities. To name a few here: recruitment of technical staff, providing Managing Director with advice governing buying hard- & software, restructuring working models (version control, code reviewing), monitoring competence and facilitating technical staff training, technical representative towards investors and publishers.

I was put cold into a game project that had been in progress for a year. I did some work on a graphical particle system very rich on physical features, fast cubic spline integration techniques for C2 continuous camera movement and lots of other stuff that had to be done really quickly. Afterwards I rewrote a big part of graphical engine related stuff to get it better scalable and managable. After finishing this project I worked for half a year on some innovative technique for visualising fluid while staying clear from the well known but at that time pattented method. Finally I became Lead Programmer on a new project, where I mostly worked on some innovative technique to combine ultra realistic graphics with a low-end platform in a rather unorthodox way, trading some interaction. Besides working on this technology I led a team of over 5 programmers.

While practising game programming since a kid, my professional carreer as a game programmer really took off here. I learned tons of new things about code and design here during the first three months in a professional environment. After that I mostly refined my skills involving communicating with designers, artists and product managers while doing some nifty graphics and generic game programming related coding.
Mostly busy introducing novel software architectures for new line of games we were working on
Head of IT department.Worked with two other collegues on the company's internal CRM system, fully 3-tier component based using ASP, Sql Server 7, C++ ATL components and VBScript.I was responsible for architecture, version control and releasing / publishing / migrating and deployment, user training.
Me and a study collegue of mine started a company delivering custom web applications for small companies. Our clients were typically retailers, food suppliers, apothecaries, etc. The applications were mostly derivatives of order information systems.Eventhough I learned a lot in terms of B2B and client interviews as well as being an entrepreneur the venture never really took off. In retrorespect I guess we didn't know how to think big and form a liaison with designing and art, while small companies lost interest in small scale custom applications over the years that came following the dotCom hype. Still, we made some decent money as students.
