My role is strategically pivotal in Project Management and Process Improvement within a company producing polyurethane products for the Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Manufacturing & Recycling industries. As the sole Project Manager, I am directly responsible for reporting to the Directors and have a wide-ranging remit. The following achievements underscore the scale and significance of my role:Over the past decade, I have specified and overseen the construction of two substantial factory extensions, each spanning 882 sqm. These expansions increased our production capacity and efficiency.I have successfully managed the absorption of two competitors and their production techniques and equipment, overcoming process alignment challenges. As the manager of our business energy contracts, I have significantly enhanced our energy efficiency. Through various techniques, including the specification of solar panel installations, LED lighting, and the design and development of more energy-efficient hot plates and ovens, we have reduced our carbon footprint and positioned ourselves as a sustainable manufacturer.Even with the factory doubling in size and personnel growing from 40 to 50+, I have managed to reduce our overall carbon footprint, a testament to my strategic planning and foresight. I am responsible for meticulously planning and coordinating scheduled maintenance during factory shutdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to our operations.Specification, procurement, and installation of new plant and machinery, including equipment such as a shot blasting machine, CNC turning centre, and custom-built ovens and hotplates, with individual costs ranging from £10k to £160k.In summary, my work involves proposing new investments through financial analysis, technical design for manufacturing, project planning, and troubleshooting. I report directly to the Board of Directors.

I was responsible for designing customized metal and tube bending machines and overseeing the entire project from design to construction and delivery for prominent international clients, such as Stannah. Since the company had a small, dedicated team, my duties included sourcing all project parts and creating comprehensive Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Additionally, I developed CAM programs for cutting intricate tooling profiles. As part of my role, I hired a subcontractor to create a database that could cross-reference all parts and drawings involved in any project across the company. This initiative significantly reduced time and costs, while enhancing overall business efficiency. costs and improved efficiency in the business.

During my time in this role, I contributed towards my honours award by completing a year in industry. I worked in a clean room environment and was responsible for process optimization, scrap reduction, and general maintenance. I also successfully brought one of the production areas up to ISO 9002 standards. During this period, I also worked on my final-year dissertation, which focused on optimizing stock levels on the shop floor. I was instrumental in increasing production and reducing scrap by 50% through the redesign of a jigging system.
