I recently retired from my Chief Technology Officer for CableLabs®. In this position I was responsible for leading the CableLabs R&D Portfolio in areas of Hybrid Fiber-Coax, Optical Networking, Wireless and Mobile Networks, Software Defined Networks and Network Function Virtualization. This includes cable industry Technology Policy and Standards Strategy..

I was responsible for the overall systems architecture for the @Home set-top services. This included support of digital set-tops from General Instrument and Scientific Atlanta, in particular, the DCT-2000, DCT-5000, and Explorer 2000. My activities included strategic planning and system design.

As a member of the Time Warner Cable Advanced Engineering team, I was responsible for the overall software architecture of Time Warner's Pegasus Program. The Pegasus Program is Time Warner's strategy for digital broadcast and Interactive Television deployment. My area of focus includes set-top operating system, navigator, video servers, billing systems.

During my last two years at Solbourne Computer, I managed a small group responsible for supporting Solbourne's software development environment; performing hardware and software test; integrating third-party products; conducting beta programs; and performing final product release. Prior to this I was Manager, Window Systems Group. My management.

I designed and developed low-cost, high-performance, two- and three-dimensional graphics systems for the computer animation and video production markets. These products included both hardware and software and supported a wide range of graphics features, including fast double-buffered 8-bit wireframe display to true color 24-bit Phong shading with image.

While at Precision Visuals, I designed and developed device-independent graphics software. My projects included a GKS-conforming graphics toolkit; an improved software template used in producing graphics device drivers; and a three-dimensional, hierarchical graphics modeling package.

Initially, Bell Laboratories provided me the opportunity to obtain my MSEE from MIT under the Bell Laboratories Graduate Studies Program. Upon returning to Bell Laboratories, I developed hardware for packet switching networks and data communications systems. In the process, I also evaluated Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for electronic circuit and VSLI.

In this position I provided technical support to the engineering staff responsible for developing telephone switching equipment. I developed the hardware and software for a telephone traffic simulator. This test and measurement equipment was used to test latency through an telephone image concentrator. I ported the engineering software development.

During my sophomore year I was a research assistant in robotics research at Purdue University. I was responsible for the development of a software interpreter for a robot control programming language.

As a summer intern I developed a set of test procedures for a digital jet engine fuel control system. I also ported a root locus analysis software package to an IBM system.
