Success finds me when I step outside my comfort zone.This discipline and commitment to excellence forged a professional path that began when I left college to focus on my sales skills in a real-world environment. I started focusing on all kinds of small brokerage deals in German real estate. With this experience, I went on to found, build and take public one of the largest real-estate investment managers in Europe. I started with 4 employees, growing to 800. At its peak, I took it public and the value of the company went to nearly €1.5 billion with €40 billion AUM. I transitioned from my role and sold my stake to focus on other activities.Today, I am the Principal of W5 Group my own single-family investment office. Over the years, I have led investments of over €30B in transactions across a broad range of asset classes and geographies. Through my research driven approach, I have often been an early investor in emerging real estate sectors prior to institutional acceptance. For example, I amassed portfolios of over 40,000 units of student housing, micro-apartments, co-living & other creative concepts for urban living - Innovative Living Investments. I established W5 as a vehicle to make investments which generate both strong cash flow and capital appreciation to compound returns over the long term. Our investments are rooted in research and are responsive to shifting lifestyle preferences and the sharing economy. I have assembled a high caliber team of investment professionals in the US and Europe with backgrounds in private equity, family office investing and investment banking who can quickly and efficient analyze and execute a wide variety of complex investments across asset classes and capital structures. After spending most of my career in Europe, I am refocusing my attention on US markets where there are growth opportunities especially for Innovative Living Investments. For instance, co-living is gaining in popularity as young people who have been priced out of housing markets in major cities drive demand for smaller tiny apartments.W5 Group has been active in equity and debt investments in existing assets, developments and re-developments in the Innovative Living space in US gateway cities as well as other high growth markets.Community is more than building cool housing for urban dwellers.
