Reservoir Management and field development of giant Bassein gas field, Vasai (East), D-1, B-55 and Satellite gas fields of C-series and oil/gas fields of B22 & B-193 Clusters.Additional development of the giant Bassien gas field. Monetization of over 20 Marginal offshore fields by integrated development with common well platforms and process facilities. Development of Vasai East having thin oil column sandwiched between gas cap & bottom water with depleted reservoir pressure. Integrated development plan of D-1 field encompassing the blocks D-1-12 and D-1-14 covering 55 MMt of IOIP. The plan envisaged peak oil production of about 36000 BOPD from the field. G&G studies based on development activities and using the classical reservoir engineering approach, reserves accretion of the order of 43 MMt IGIP (O+OEG) and 49 MMt (O+OEG) in ultimate category was achieved during 2006 to 2009.
  • Ongc
General Manager (Reservoir) - Sub Surface Manager
    Ongc Apr 2003 - Apr 2006
    Ahmedabad Asset, India
Reservoir & production management, Redevelopment/Additional development of about 20 old and new fields of the Asset for oil & gas production enhancement.Phenomenal increase in oil production from 4200 TPD in 2002-03 to ever highest Asset production of 5200 TPD in 2005-06 mainly due to focused attention on additional /re-development of Limbodra, South Kadi, Nandej, Jhalora, Sanand, Gamij and Kalol fields and drilling of new wells alongwith effective reservoir & production management of other brown fields including pressure maintenance, A/L optimization and flow assurance. Proposed and got released about 250 development locations in different fields and got drilled about 70 wells every year. Initiated drilling of horizontal wells for production enhancement and addition oil recovery. Successfully implemented ASP pilot studies in Viraj field, managed ongoing Sanand Polymer flooding and planned ASP/polymer EOR for Kalol and Jhalora fieldsAccreted oil & gas in-place reserves of about 11.0 MMt (O+OEG) through development efforts in different fields of the Asset besides the planned exploration activities.
  • Ongc
Dy. General Manager (Reservoir) - Sub-Surface Manager
    Ongc Nov 1998 - Mar 2003
    Neelam Project, Mumbai Offshore, India
Managing Neelam and B-173A fields to optimize and arrest the fast declining oil production, especially from Neelam field and take necessary measures to enhance the production.Reduced the fast declining production rate of Neelam field to almost 0% within 1.5 years adopting the innovative reservoir & production management /operational practices in the field through MDT approach without drilling of any additional well. The main focus was on close monitoring of each well, perfect work over plans & execution for water/ gas shut off and other jobs, gas lift optimization & monitoring, flow assurance and facility optimization.Reviewed the geological model of Neelam field understanding the fracture network and aquifer/injected water movement in the reservoir, Identified some locales having leftover/bypassed oil and prepared the development scheme of the field envisaged 17 new development locations to enhance the production and the recovery from the field. Also prepared the Additional development of B-173A field which resulted into enhancement of production from 2000 to 4000 BOPD during 2002-03 from the field.Based on the success of Neelam Pilot Project, the Asset based Management system was rolled over to whole of the ONGC in 2002-03.
  • Ongc
Chief Manager (Reservoir) - Project I/C Gandhar Field Development & Management
    Ongc Jul 1992 - Oct 1998
Regional Reservoir Engineering Division, Vadodara, India
Plan, monitor and implement the development activities including drilling of wells and other reservoir engineering jobs for fast development / delineation of Gandhar field and its effective Reservoir Management as the oil was highly volatile and saturated with gas cap. Implemented the pattern water injection in Gandhar and Nada fields which greatly helped in maintaining the reservoir pressure, sustaining productivity of wells and enhancing the oil production & ultimate recovery. Implemented an unusual approach of simultaneous water injection at GOC & OWC in GS-3A reservoir of Gandhar field which prevented the expected oil migration in gas cap.Initiated Lean Gas injection in Gas cap of GS-4 and GS-5C reservoirs of Gandhar to balance the pressure in gas cap to prevent chances of oil migration in Gas cap.Implemented successfully a commercial Miscible Gas Injection, an EOR process in GS-12 (middle) sand of Gandhar field which led to a quantum jump in oil production and enhanced the envisaged recovery to about 48 %. Implemented water injection scheme in Nada field and improved the envisaged recovery from 25% to about 52 % with water injection.Prepared development plan for Jambusar field envisaging recovery of 26.3% in JS-1 and 41.3% in JS-IIIB sands with simultaneous water injection through dual injectors
  • Ongc

Also got implemented the use of HEC, a non-damaging viscofier in Workover fluids.Planned and got implemented the production enhancement activities like zone transfers, additional &/or re-perforations, WSO, well activation and stimulation etc. which greatly helped in increasing the oil production from the fields and achieved the ever highest oil production over 3 MMt. During the year 1989-90 from the Region.Associated with IRS team and prepared the development plans for TS-III, TS-IV & TS-V sands of Geleki and also for Barail sand of Rudrasagar. Monitored and improved the water injection for pressure maintenance. Initiated the pattern water injection in TS-III of Geleki and block-1 of RDS field.

    Ongc Mar 1978 - May 1989
Kdm Institute Of Petroleum Exploration, Dehra Dun Area, India
Research & Development work related to reservoir & production field problems.Developed a regular water knock out system with the use of suitable foaming agent for the gas wells of Cambay field. The wells were ceased to flow due to water loading and needed continuous water unloading system for sustained gas production.Developed selective acidization system using chemical divergent for stimulation of fractured lime stone, L-III reservoir of Mumbai High.Designed and successfully carried out the sand control job in well MSN-11 of Mehsana Project. This was the 1st job of its kind and thus well acknowledged by Director (E).Developed Non-damaging low sp. Gr. Water base work over /completion fluid using HEC/CMC and other additives for Sub-hydrostatic reservoirs to avoid formation damage. This system is widely used during work over operations in ONGC. Designed special water shut off techniques for N. Kadi wells of Mehsana Project and successfully executed the job in well NK-69 which produced water free oil @ about 20 m3/D for quite a long period. This was the Ist. successful WSO job in ONGC and therefore, appreciated by Director(E) and the Project authority. Carried out Studies on Underground Coal Gasification to develop and harness the unconventional source of energy from un-minable underground coal / lignite deposits. The project was carried out under the guidance of a National Committee on UGC constituted by Govt. Of India. Though the project was technically feasible but found commercially unviable due to low calorific value of the produced gas and low gas price.
