Dr. Ram Silfen, the founder and director of the Tel Aviv Institute of Plastic Surgery, is one of the leading surgeons in Israel in the field of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.Dr. Silfen completed medical studies cum laude in 1991 and specialized in plastic surgery at the Rabin Medical Center and at Kaplan Hospital in Israel. During his extensive training as a plastic surgeon, Dr. Silfen worked at leading medical centers in the world, including Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, where the first heart transplant in the world was performed, as well as at Brigham and Woman’s Hospital at Harvard, Boston, USA. Upon completing his specialization training, Dr. Silfen took up sub-specialization in micro-surgery and hand as well as aesthetic surgery in Australia, where he specialized and worked at the Southern Health Network Hospital Group, as well as at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery, one of the leading institutes in the world for plastic and aesthetic surgery.Dr. Silfen holds various academic degrees and positions, including research sub-specialization from Brigham and Woman’s Hospital at Harvard, Boston, USA, a graduate degree in plastic surgery from the School of Continuation Studies of the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and serves as a senior clinical lecturer at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.Dr. Silfen actively participates in scientific conferences, is responsible for training medical students and interns in Israel and abroad, has published dozens of papers in international scientific publications as well as contributed chapters to books.Dr. Silfen is a member of the Plastic Surgery Society in Israel, a member of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) , a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the Hand Surgery Society, Victoria, Australia.
