Rubayet Al Maruf Email and Phone Number
My expertise lies in nanophotonic and quantum optics component design, fabrication and experimental validation. Currently, I am involved in a Hybrid Quantum Repeater project where nanowire quantum dots serve as a source of entangled-photon pairs and cold cesium atoms function as the memory elements. My key responsibilities in this project includes designing of the nanowire quantum dot, building an experimental setup to characterize the source, fine-tune the emission wavelength of the quantum dot, and oversee the overall progress. Beyond this project, I have also been actively engaged in the design and fabrication of photonic crystal and metasurface mirrors and lenses. My nanofabrication expertise could be exemplified by the fabrication of a 50 nm feature size superconducting structure. Furthermore, I possess experience working with cryogenic temperatures including dilution refrigerators and closed cycle cryostats.Nanophotonic design● Design and simulation of nanophotonic structures using Mode and FDTD solver (Lumerical) for quantum optics and quantum information applications. Examples include optimized geometry for quantum dot embedded nanowire waveguide for low numerical aperture Gaussian mode emission, on-chip grating coupler, photonic crystal mirror, and metasurface mirror and lens.Experimental setup● Tabletop optical setup using bulk optics and integrated optics. Examples include fiber coupled nanowire quantum dot, two-photon excitation of the quantum dot, sub-nanometer wavelength isolation using transmission grating, confocal microscopy, sub-GHz precision in-house spectrometer, laser locking, picosecond pulse generation using EOM, and linewidth measurement using scanning Fabry-Pérot interferometer.Nanofabrication ● Lithography: Photolithography (with Mask and Mask less), Mask design, Electron beam lithography (Raith, JEOL).● Deposition: PECVD, Evaporator (E-beam and Thermal), Sputtering.● Etch: Lift-off, Wet etch, Deep Silicon etch, Metal and III-V material etch.● Characterization: Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Surface profiler, Ellipsometry, Optical microscopy.● Packaging: Dicing saw, Wire bonder.Cryogenics ● Operation and maintenance of dilution refrigerators and closed cycle cryostats.● Experiments with Single Electron Transistors in a dilution refrigerator at ∼20 mK and Nanowire Quantum Dots in a closed cycle cryostat at ∼4 K.Softwares & languages● Lumerical MODE and FDTD solver, Zemax, MATLAB, Python, K-Layout, HSPICE, PSPICE, L-Edit, NI Multisim, C/C++, AutoCAD, Inventor.
