He began his career in mid-seventies with the National Productivity, Council, Govt. of India, where he was among the pioneering group at national level on prompting Energy Conservation and use of Alternative Energy sources. Later, Ramachandran was attracted by the Private Industries. He choose to join Wipro, then the emerging IT industry in India. After eight years in Wipro in various leadership positions, Ramachandran lead Ramco Systems as its founding CEO since 1993. As Ramco's principal architect, he pioneered the creation and building of a global product software organization and took it to public with market capitalization of US$ 800 M in the year 2000.
