Dr. Raman SARAVANANE is an Environmental Engineer and obtained his Doctorate in Environmental Engineering, 2003 from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M), India . He is a graduate, B.E., in Civil Engg, First Batch 1989 of PEC- FIRST Batch Alumni PEC under University of Madras. His Post Graduation is from M.E. Environmental Engg, College of Engg, Guindy, 1993, Anna University, Chennai. His present position is Professor Environmental Engineering, Civil Engg Dept, Puducherry Technological University, PTU (PEC). He has been in teaching, research & development under Environmental Engineering for a period of 29 years since joining institute, 1993. His major areas of research are Water and Energy Sustainability, to new and renewable energy sources. He is a Executive member of International Water Association (IWA), UK and associated with specialist groups on anaerobic digestion and water reuse as members and coordinating potential activities. Coordinator for Jal Shakthi Abhiyon, JaL Jeeven Mission , Govt. of India. Established CO2 sequestration and climate change mitigation through Thermal Power Plant projects by PEC – Industry collaboration throuh MoU with Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd, TN. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India and received Shrimati Saroma Sanyal Memorial Prize for significant contribution to anaerobic co-digestion and also awarded “Friend of Energy Award” for waste to biomass energy utilization from Energy Society of India, India. He is the former Chairman of the Institution of Engineers, Puducherry State Centre, Puducherry, India. He has been granted with Three INDIAN PATENTS on Wastewater Treatment and Energy Recovery, Environmental Engg and completed a Startup with Scholars of Civil Engg in GDC- Start up, IIT Madras on Bioenergy startup and large scale application and Commercialization Under Startup India, Govt. of India under AathmanirbarBharat, GoI Mission of India.
