Current• Decipher engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best arrangement of activities• Configure dimensions, tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces• Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, planning, drilling, and other operations• Analyzed finished products to ensure effectiveness and detect any possible defects in design• Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools in order to examine parts for defects and replace them where needed• Lifted and positioned work piece on machine table manually or with hoist and secured it with clamps, bolts and fixtures• Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as bore micrometer, thread gauges, standardized pins, vernier calipers, and other tools to maintain accuracy.• Align, program and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and accessories onto machine for use by machining tool operators• Supervise the machine while it executes the program and make any necessary adjustments to produce the desired result• Monitoring tool life and change, adjust or replace as needed
