As a managing director at DTC, I lead investments in early-stage companies that are building in areas including cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data management, and SaaS apps. More specifically, I’m always interested in meeting teams that are solving tomorrow’s technological bottlenecks and in working with founders for whom $1B in revenue – not valuation – is the goal.Before becoming a venture investor, I spent 16 years at Stanford University in roles including Chief Information Officer where I was responsible for IT infrastructure and both the academic and business systems for the university. My experience as both a CTO and CIO gives me a strong perspective for what enterprise IT execs need – a perspective that helps me better serve portfolio companies.In addition to my investment work, I am a proud early charter member of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE), the world’s largest non-profit organization for entrepreneurs. I’ve also been a contributing editor for four technical books and have twice been named to the Forbes Midas List of the top 100 venture investors.
