As the Director of Executive & Professional Education for the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, I have the privilege of working with our world-renowned faculty and scientists who have continually pushed the boundaries of computer science and AI since the inception of the field. Our courses and certificate programs, designed to help working professionals upskill, are offered in various formats. 1-week on-campus training, 10-week online synchronous and asynchronous courses, 20-week weekend-only certificate programs, and 4-month bootcamps. We offer open enrollment programs in partnership with EdTech companies Emeritus and Talentsprint.Our programs are developed by faculty from all seven departments in the School of Computer Science: Computational Biology, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction Institute, Language Technologies Institute, Machine Learning, Robotics Institute, and Software and Societal Systems. Our core programs focus on AI and Computer Science. AI, Adversarial AI, AI Systems Engineering, Algorithms & Data structures, AR/VR/XR, Autonomous System, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, DevOps, GenAI, Human Computer Interaction, LLMs, Machine Learning, NLP/Multilingual NLP, Prompt Engineering, Python, Responsible AI, Robot Autonomy, Software Architecture, Software Engineering, Speech Recognition, Testing & Validation are a few selected topics from our exhaustive list. We are currently focused on three areas: 1. Making a meaningful societal impact by offering high-trust, high-impact bootcamps for high school graduates to upskill and obtain their first job in the IT industry. Our first such program is the CMU Techbridge Coding Bootcamp, with a Cyber Security Bootcamp to follow. 2. Developing courses and programs to provide a broad, non-tech introduction to AI for the public and private sectors. We are partnering with faculty from our Tepper School of Business on a Fundamentals of AI program. 3. Scaling the Techwise program with Google and Talentsprint to empower students from underprivileged communities with software coding skills, enabling them to join the tech workforce.I hold an engineering degree from the University of Madras, India, and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. I worked at Pfizer, McKinsey, E&Y and Diamond Technology Partners before returning to my alma mater in 2007. I am on the board of Holopundits. In my spare time, I focus my energy on PIC5K, a volunteer-funded, zero-overhead non-profit in Pittsburgh.
